One armor can be equipped to your character at one time, and all purchases carry over to other games, including on other characters. The DEF Value is the value added pre-calculation, and the Multiplier is the % Additive calculation, done post-addition.

For example, if you have 2000 SP in DEF, with a +2000 DEF Item, and the Armor is Spike (+900/160%), first, the game will do all additive calculations (2000+2000+900=4900), followed by any multiplicative calculations (4900*1.6=7400).
